Great Business-Class Wireless-N Access Point By Michael Aarons I not so long ago purchased two of these Cisco WAP4410N WAPs. The goal was to help my brother-in-law cover his huge home with good quality wireless. Based on my experience doing former WAP installations, my guess was that is would take amongst three and six WAPs to full cover his huge house (which has a large total of brick and steel) with good quality coverage. I was impressed that by strategically positioning the units I was competent to cover the entire house with only two of these WAPs. The coverage consisted of three floors (one was a finished basement).

Wireless “N”ightmare By William E. Gatti I had been wanting something to replace my aging but still working Linksys WAP54G Wireless G Access Point for a lot of time. I warded off the WAP4400n because of negative reviews and a heap of difficulties experienced by users. So when Cisco ultimately came out with a newer model the WAP4410n, I figured they will have to have fixed the difficultnesses in the WAP4400n. They couldn’t perhaps release a new model with the same difficulties as the old one right? Wrong! I purchased two of these from Amazon. The initial one arrived and worked perfectly until I decisive to upgrade the firmware to the latest version. After that, no connection, no nothing. It just died. A second unit had the same results, another brick. Now, I have upgraded the firmware in my old access point and router on assorted occasions and never had a problem. It is not rocket science but you ought to do it in the right way or a brick is what you will get. I am a network administrator by profession. I thought I had done everything right but I was beginning to second guess myself. A speech and a heap of tests by Cisco Tech Support determined that both units were wrong and I ought to return them. Amazon graciously took them back and refunded my money.
Looking for an alternative, I did a great deal of exploration and found the TRENDnet TEW-670AP Dual Band Wireless N Access Point. After buying not one thing but Linksys productions for years, I was reluctant to trust an unknown brand like TRENDnet but after my experience with Cisco, I had not one thing to lose. I decisive to try TRENDnet and purchased the TEW-670AP. The unit has great specs, 5GHz that the Cisco unit couldn’t match and outstanding performance, often connecting at 300Mbps. It also costs less than the Cisco unit. I couldn’t be happier. I highly commend the TRENDnet TEW-670AP. Avoid the Cisco WAP4410n like the plague!

WAP4410 running review By CAPoiDog I just installed 2 WAP4410′s on a Linksys RVS4000 router and brought them up in a basic configuration just to get the system running. I will be tuning the configuration over the next few weeks and will report the results.
Right out of the box, the units worked as advertised with zero hassle. I modified the firmware, changed the admin password, assigned both static IP addresses and resolved the host name to enable roaming which has worked well therefore far. I initially enabled SSID broadcast to make it posing no difficulty to find for setup, but I will finally disable. So far (anecdotal) the speed seems good, and the APs have had no issues with a mix of a/b/g/n devices. I have no plans to enable PoE, as there are known issues with the link speed dropping to 100mb/s. So far, so good.
It has now been a month, and I have enabled a second guest SSID and have set up links with a number dissimilar gimmicks (WGA600n gaming adapter for an Xbox360, WET610N for printer with no hassle at all). The performance and range have been excellent. No difficulties with the VLAN or the QoS functions for streaming.
In the final analysis; a little highpriced but an splendid product. 5 Stars.
