I not long back had a client who was a victim of a break-in at his restaurant. They broke in through the side door. He was missing all sorts of items and had to close for the day. He was in the procedure of buying goods around for a security alarm system but was already open for a few months. Needless to say he ought to have been protected as soon as he started getting his feed instrumentation delivered (before they even opened for business). This may have saved him from his property and revenue loss as well as a big headache.

It is very easy and low cost to get a alarm scheme installed and monitored. At minimum I like to see contacts on all perimeter doors, good motion sensor coverage and a hold up button at the front counter. This is normally included in a standard package offered by most security companies for less than $200 with a monitoring agreement.

It’s always a good idea to make sure your security alarm scheme will not be disrupted in communicating for the duration of an event. In some cases this may occur if you have digital VOIP phone lines. Also, make sure the outside phone wire is not vulnerable to being cut by a thief. If you do have VOIP or an exposed phone wire outside, you will have to most unquestionably invest in cellular back up for the alarm system.

A good monitoring company will have a great deal of experience and progress in it’s monitoring services. Ask questions such as…”is your monitoring center UL listed”, “how a heap of years been in business”, “how a great deal of monitoring centers and responders do you have around the clock” and “how long does it take for a service call”. In a critical circumstance it’s very important to get a rapid response for the duration of an alarm signal.

5More practical for Skype (TM) users who are applied to a “real” phone
By Renaud Olgiati
The handset was recognized without delay and did not require any driver to be applied underneath Linux (2.6.x).

Works seamlessly when running Skype on both my desktop box and my EeePC 701 4G.

1A device of last resort …
By Michael P. Myers
The phone is recognized by the computer with no problems. However, I would not commend it except as a back up device. It is very difficult to listen and be heard on it.

4Convenient Dialing
By M. Nelson
Much necessitated device. I got tired of having to point my mouse on the soft pad in order to dial. Great if you need to make multiple calls.
